Namak Mirch Pudina Paratha/ Easy Flaky Masala Paratha

Spread the love

You know how some days you just can’t think of what to make and you are stressed about the fact that you have not really thought of and ordered the veggies? This is the paratha recipe that will save you.

A paratha is a very popular Indian flat bread. It can be a plain ghee paratha or stuffed with paneer or boiled potatoes, cauliflower etc etc. Many different vegetables can be used for the stuffing.

This paratha recipe however, uses dry spice mix for the stuffing and hence does not require any prep as such other than making the aata/dough.

Namak mirch paratha tastes good just as it is. You really don’t need any accompaniment for this other than maybe some dahi or makkhan.

It makes for a filling and healthy breakfast or as an evening snack. Do try it out. I’m sure not only the kids but also the adults in the house will love it.

Ingredients:

For dough

  1. Wheat flour 1 cup
  2. Salt
  3. Water 3/4 cup
  4. Oil 1/2 tsp

For spice mix

  • Dry mint powder
  • Salt
  • Red chilli powder
  • Cumin
  • Ghee

Method:

Make a medium soft dough by mixing the wheat flour, salt, oil and water, and knead to get a well kneaded dough.

Divide the dough into 6 equal parts and make round ball shapes.

Roll out each ball to a small circle of around 4 inches. Add the spices – a small pinch of cumin/jeera, a pinch of salt, a large pinch of red chilli powder, and 1/4 tsp of dry mint powder. The quantities of the spices can be as per taste.

Add half tsp of ghee. Now mix the spices and ghee with your finger and spread it on half of the rolled out dough circle. Fold the rolled out dough into a semicircle.

Repeat this till you ready all the dough parts.

Apply a little ghee on the folded side and spread it. Fold again to make a triangle.

Now roll out each triangle to a form a paratha/chapati. Heat a tava and fry each paratha with little oil/ghee on both side till you get a golden colour.

Serve hot with some makkhan/ghee/butter/dahi.

Notes:

The quantity of spice mix can be increased as per your taste.

If you like the paratha crispy then fry little longer with more ghee/oil.

If you are not able to find mint powder then replace it with finely chopped fresh mint or dried kasuri methi.
