About Me

Spread the love

Hi! I’m Gauri Dalal. A textile designer by training and a foodie at heart!
Being a mom of two teenagers I am always thinking of what to cook next!

I normally cook intuitively and don’t normally follow a recipe to the T, other than when I’m baking. When my teenage daughter asked me for the recipe of her most favorite Dal Rice and batatachyo fodi (potatoes shallow fried) I realized that I don’t have our traditional, simple, daily food recipes written down with proper measurements. That’s when I decided to start this recipe blog with an intension of documenting the recipes.

The sheer convenience of ordering food by tapping a finger has made many of us cook less at home.  Our traditional Indian recipes are getting lost. Through this blog I also hope to bring to you, the authentic and traditional Indian recipes that we have grown up relishing, not only during our festivals and special occasions but also for simple everyday meals.

Most of the recipes in my blog are very frequently made at my place. Though I like to make use of ingredients that are traditional, local and seasonal, I equally enjoy trying out new recipes and cuisines. I love to try out the local cuisine of whichever place that we visit. And invariably try to recreate the dish once we are back home, and get transported back to that place through food. So, you will find recipes from around the world that I enjoyed making.

I do not use colour and preservatives in my recipe other than for cake icings. I am not much into making the most visually stunning dish. The focus is always on taste. The cake is not perfectly iced or the laddoo is not a perfect round, or the gravy doesn’t have the most perfect colour? That’s totally ok as long as it tastes good. ****

I hope you will enjoy reading my blog and trying out the recipes. I look forward to sharing this food journey with you!
