How To Make Homemade Ghee / Clarified Butter

Pure Ghee or clarified butter is supposed to have originated in India. It is used to prepare a wide variety of sweet as well as savoury dishes in Indian cuisine. Ghee is made by boiling white butter. Like white butter ghee too has many medicinal properties and is consumed in our Indian diet everyday.

Ingredients:

White Butter / Loni /Makkhan 1 cup

Method:

Heat the White butter in a thick bottomed pan.

The butter will start melting. keep cooking it on a slow flame till you get clear golden liquid. You can see the stages in the picture above.

Once the ghee is ready, allow it to cool a little and then strain using a steel fine mesh strainer. Store it in a glass jar.
