How to make Tomato Puree

Spread the love

This is another essential ingredient I always have in in my fridge. It reduces the prep time and allows me to make zhatpat gravies. Not only does it reduce the time you would spend chopping the tomatoes, it also reduces the cooking time as the tomatoes are already cooked.

I store it in a glass jar in the refrigerator and it stays good for a week easily.

Ingredients:

  • Tomatoes 6
  • Water for boiling

Method:

Boil sufficient water in a pan. Once boiled put the tomatoes and boil for 1-2 minutes. Switch the flame off. Cover the pan and keep for 5 mins.

Drain the water and remove the tomatoes on a plate. Allow to cool. Peel the skin of the tomatoes by just pulling them.

Chop the peeled tomatoes into pieces and grind to a fine paste without adding water.

Your tomato puree is ready. Store in a clean jar in the refrigerator. This stays good for a week. Use as and when required to make curries or gravies.
